Community Action

St. Cuthbert's RC Primary School is part of an established, vibrant, diverse community in the heart of North Shields. We have very close links with our local community through our church parish, with all schools regardless of faith, with local community organisations such as Nite Bite and the Cedarwood Trust. We have regional links many organisations and work in partnership with St. Oswald's Hospice, St. Cuthbert's Care, the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle and we are the first primary school to be part of Tyne & Wear Citizens which is part of the national Citizens UK movement.

We also have very strong global links with two partner schools in Brazil, Romario Martins in Curitiba and Escola Londres in Rio. We support many charities and we have been working very closely with Children in Crossfire providing support for children and communities in Ethiopia and Tanzania. Our school community are incredibly generous and we have raised over £8000 for our partner charities over the last two years.

Much of our work is driven by our Mini Vinnies who work with children throughout school to plan which charities to support. The children make their decisions based on research and taking into account the impact they can have on other children and families across the world. They are aware that charity and support take many different forms and that we support each other in school as well families across the world. During the last half term of the 2017/ 18 academic year our children were successful in achieving the UNICEF Rights Respecting School Silver Award, a fantastic recognition of all the work they do throughout every year.
